The Dichotomy of Man; A Life Unlived

by Patrick Babylon

Man is a marvelous thing,

Dreams bore forth from a childhood haze.

Ushering in a feeling of ever moving, ever improving, deep within our chest.

Never worried about the reality, we might not be going anywhere at all.

For “there is always tomorrow,” and there in tomorrow lies the greatest sin.

Then one day you’ll grow older with the time of dreaming now forgotten.

You had been told no by the world one too many times,

and tomorrow with it, faded into indifference.

But does it matter now?

You’ve got your square piece of land in suburbia,

your fifty dollar haircut, your wife in stilettos.

And you think to yourself, “I’m content.”

But are you?
